Using the AI assistant

What the assistant can see, prompts that work well, and where you still need an accountant.

The AI assistant sits in the dashboard sidebar. It can answer questions about the data on your dashboard — your assets, liabilities, transactions, goals, and the figures in your profile.

What it can see

The assistant has access to:

  • Your asset and liability list, with current values
  • Transactions from connected accounts and imported statements
  • Profile fields (tax residency, base currency, income if set)
  • Your goals and budgets

It does not see anything outside Auravest. It can't pull live market news, log into your bank, or read external documents.

Prompts that work well

Concrete, data-grounded questions:

  • "How much did I spend on groceries last month?"
  • "What's my current asset allocation across property, equities, and cash?"
  • "If I put an extra $500 a month into super instead of my mortgage, how does that compare?"
  • "Which transactions over $200 last month aren't categorised?"

Prompts that work less well

The assistant is weaker at:

  • Live market prices or news. It uses your stored holdings, not real-time tickers.
  • Tax advice for edge cases. It can estimate at a high level. For trust structures, deceased estates, or anything unusual, talk to an accountant.
  • Open-ended planning. "Should I retire?" is too broad. Ask one decision at a time.

Limits

Each plan has a monthly prompt cap. You can see the remaining quota in the assistant panel. Heavier modelling (running a Monte Carlo simulation, for example) doesn't count against the chat quota — it's a separate tool.

Verification

Treat output as a starting point. Auravest's figures are only as accurate as the data you've entered. If a number looks wrong, check the underlying asset or transaction first.
